During Irene we spent about three days in the dark without the buzz of media, the blare of television and the incessant hum of technology. We were happy to light candles, read using our tiny flashlights and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After the magical weekend without lights, sipping absinthe and making love, I decreed that once a month we should resort to quiet darkness. Here are some pictures I took that night
